Brian joined Barclays Bank in 1991 after a previous career in the Royal Air Force and later within the defence industry. In 2000 he left the bank and subsequently set up his own firm where he quickly realised his ambition for technical excellence by becoming a Chartered Financial Planner, and later a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society.
He enjoys finding elegant solutions to the needs of his clients with particular focus on near retirement and inheritance tax planning strategies. He tries to deliver these in an understandable way, jargon free and where possible with a tinge of fun.
Brian is married to Pauline, they both enjoy travelling and being with their family. Together they have four children and a plethora of grandchildren.
After living in Zimbabwe for a number of years, Lorreine returned to the UK and settled in Watford. She joined the N & P Building Society and realised she was a round peg in a round hole. After 20 years working in financial services, she joined her good friend Brian at his IFA company.
In 2008, when seeking advice for her Aunt, she realised that whilst there was a lot of information about care, there were very few people able to give advice. Lorreine quickly recognised that there was a gap in the market that she could fill, and quickly set about learning all she could about this complex area. She became an expert both in Care Fee Advice and Equity Release and in 2014 was invited to speak at the House of Lords on the subject of later life advice. Lorreine adores her work, helping families who are often in a state of crisis. She says – ‘it is a privilege to work with the families who need our help’. Lorreine also advises clients on Equity Release (lifetime mortgages)*. This is a complex area of financial planning and she enjoys helping families understand how lifetime mortgages can help them.
Outside of work, Lorreine splits her time between cycling and her husband Dave. She commutes to work by bike whenever she can, and wears her oil stains as a badge of honour! Lorreine is mother to Millie the cat – who treats them both with disdain and who often forgets exactly who pays the mortgage!
